Cryolipolysis

Unhealthy diet and sedentary life style results in accumulation of excess body fat in areas like, abdomen, arms, thighs, back etc. Most important factor in attempting to lose weight is to regularize the diet and life style. Daily intake must match the energy expenditure. This could help to maintain normal weight. However when weight reduction is aimed then daily calorie intake must be less than energy expenditure or the energy expenditure has to be increased over and above the daily calorie intake. Among the many non-surgical techniques available to assist in weight loss in addition to diet and exercise “Cryolipolysis” has been endorsed by FDA to produce consistent and safe results.

This involves Application of the hand piece tailored to specific area for a period of one hour followed by a massage. The fat is cooled below a temperature in which it could survive and the dead fat is slowly removed by the body by a process called “Apoptosis” over a period of three months. During this period some amount of pain and altered sensation is experienced in the area subjected to Cryolipolysis. A maximum of three areas could be handled on a single day and same area could be repeated after four months. The procedure requires examination and evaluation by a cosmetic surgeon only and no blood tests would be required. However when performing Cryolipolysis over abdomen one must rule out chances of ventral hernia.
